Imagine a serene lakeside retreat, where nature meets luxury, and Disney magic comes to life. That’s the vision behind Lakeshore Lodge, a highly anticipated Disney Vacation Club resort set to open in 2027. But here’s where it gets exciting: recent construction updates reveal significant progress, with cabins and overhangs finally receiving their roofs, transforming the site into a tangible glimpse of what’s to come. And this is the part most people miss—the intricate details and thoughtful design that promise to make this resort truly special.
Nestled next to Fort Wilderness Resort on the former River Country site, Lakeshore Lodge is taking shape across the water from the enigmatic Discovery Island in Bay Lake. Inspired by the ‘majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists,’ this resort is more than just a place to stay—it’s an experience. But here’s where it gets controversial: while some celebrate the resort’s integration with nature, others worry about its impact on the surrounding environment. What do you think? Is this a harmonious blend or a step too far?
From the monorail or the water taxi between Magic Kingdom and Fort Wilderness, you can catch glimpses of the construction. During a recent ground-level visit, our reporter noted remarkable advancements, particularly in the A-frame cabins along Clementine Beach. These cabins have seen extensive framing progress, with crews actively working to bring them to life. The angular overhangs, reminiscent of a porte cochere, now boast completed roofs, adding both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
The resort wing visible from the Fort Wilderness arcade and Pioneer Hall area is rapidly taking shape. Sheathing, overhang frames, and roofing are nearing completion, giving the structure a polished look. The A-frame cabins closest to the main lodge are fully roofed, with glass windows offering a sneak peek into their cozy interiors. Balconies, windows, and overhang roofs are also in place, while concrete work appears nearly finished.
One standout feature is the angular entrance porte cochere, which continues to receive concrete reinforcement. This covered area will not only allow vehicles to pass through but also streamline the check-in and check-out process for guests. Scaffolding hints at the emergence of a corner tower with a substantial roof overhang, visible from Pioneer Hall. Meanwhile, crews have been busy installing stairways and adding wood and steel framework to the Clementine Beach cabins, signaling that roofing is imminent.
The lakeside wing, still enveloped in scaffolding, was previously home to a barge and crane. Now, the barge has been repositioned toward the center of the building, equipped with a cherry picker. Nearby, what appears to be a patio for a restaurant or lounge is taking form. Another potential dining spot? A rooftop area with tiered overhangs, offering floor-to-ceiling window views of Bay Lake. But here’s the question: will these spaces live up to the breathtaking views, or will they fall short of expectations?
Rows of A-frame cabins flank the main resort, each receiving additional supports and wood details in recent weeks. With roofs now in place, these cabins are beginning to resemble the charming retreat Disney has promised. Estimates suggest there will be at least 20 cabins throughout the resort, providing ample accommodations for guests.
The lakeside wing is being prepped for concrete sheathing, with most balconies and windows already installed. A wider shot of the lodge and cabins from Bay Lake showcases the resort’s layout and progress. And this is the part most people miss: the careful planning and attention to detail that ensure every element aligns with Disney’s vision of nature-inspired luxury.
